Conductor, composer and pianist Simon Bruckard has worked extensively with orchestras and opera companies all over Australia.

Conductor, composer and pianist Simon Bruckard has worked extensively with orchestras and opera companies all over Australia, including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, State Opera South Australia, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and Ensemble Q. In 2026 he returns to Opera Australia for their national tour of Don Giovanni.

Simon is also a prolific composer and arranger. He has written for the stage, screen and concert hall. He composed the score to the film The Golden Spurtle, which premiered in March 2025 to critical acclaim and was nominated for an APRA AMCOS award for best original score for a documentary. An original work written with writer and director Constantine Costi, Simon’s opera Cassandra premiered in March 2021 at Victorian Opera. His new adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is scheduled to be performed by Orchestra Victoria in July 2026.

As an arranger and orchestrator, Simon has done orchestrations for Opera Australia, Victorian Opera and Chicago Lyric Opera which have been peformed worldwide.
