Andrew Morrisby

Andrew Morrisby is a musical director, choral director, and freelance musician based in Hobart, Tasmania.

After completing a BMus in classical piano at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, Andrew has worked in many different musical genres, ranging through classical, jazz, rock, funk, neo-soul, gospel, folk, theatre, and improvised music.

Andrew is heavily involved in the theatre community in Hobart, winning awards for “Blush Opera” at the Tasmanian Cabaret Festival (2014), and Tasmanian Theatre Awards as MD for “Forbidden Broadway” (Hobart Rep, 2015) and Best Ensemble for “[Title of Show]” (Old Nick Co, 2019). Recent credits include Bad Company’s “48hour Macbeth”, Parker Production's “Twisted Broadway” series and “The Last 5 Years”, Ensemble Musical Theatre Society’s “I love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”, and “Interwoven” which was a fully devised new work in collaboration between DRILL Performance Company and the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra.

Andrew is a founding member of PROTEA Impro and The Sessions Project, and plays with the bands Unearthly Frequencies, The DK Effect, Martine & Moz, Blue Wren, and Mycellium.
