Thrill to a liberating opportunity for Musicals to leave the footlights of the theatre, for you to follow the beat of your own inspiration and to reconnect in an exclusive, unique performance, in a surprising venue.
‘The Hope Concert’, is just that; a concert of music, text and dance that connects community through the idea of a positive future.
This specially curated concert celebrates the three elements of musical theatre; as we sing dance and speak our way into tomorrow.
The first act consists of established stars and local talent mingling together, sharing wine and great texts from Shakespeare to Sondheim to Dr Suess and all accompanied by improvised music. The second act welcomes Melbourne community dance-based event, ‘Playing Field’, to engage local musicians, performers and movers in a format that is inclusive for anyone wanting to express how they hear music.
As a musical theatre song is performed live, a predetermined mover improvises a story, and the audience are invited into the act of creation. The connection between live music and the physical response is explored, communicated, and celebrated. Playing Field thrives through the collaboration of musicians, movers, and audience to create a story that exists in one fleeting, shared moment.
This event takes the elements of Music Theatre and fuses them in new, unexpected, and unconventional ways.
