In 2022, we again take Music Theatre to unexpected venues including the Royal Oak Hotel.
Just up the road from the Princess Theatre, ‘Choir in the Pub’ returns to take on a Musical Theatre theme, allowing everyone to find their inner vocalist. We think that when people sing, they are happier and we want that for everyone, regardless of ability or training. So, this event is made for those who can either belt it out with the best, or those still trying to carry a tune. It’s a celebration of community through song and this year it’s taken on a national scale.
You don’t have to be an orphan with a high chest-belt, you just need to enjoy a drink, a connection to community and the ability to engage in a fun and supportive process.
This event is by donation only and with the theatre community coming out of a dark period that has seen many fall on hard times, the Actor’s Benevolent Fund is our worthy recipient. And this year we welcome a one of our headliners to the process. Once learned, the mass ensemble will be led by the star of ‘Annie’, Chloe Dallimore, in the rousing final rendition which will take on a national significance.
We have reached out to the various performing companies around Australia and asked them to join in. Each have recorded a section of the song and together we will create Australia’s Biggest Sing-a-Long as we remind ourselves of the hope and optimism inherent in Musical Theatre and look to our post-pandemic future. The sun will indeed, come out tomorrow.
