The Australian Musical Theatre Festival is your time to shine!

 

No more waiting in the wings – this is your chance to perform live at the Festival.

 

For some events, you’ll need to submit an audition video or sound recording in advance to compete for limited spots. For others, you can just turn up with your music and steal the show.

The Sound of Musicals Concert - A chance to perform alongside our industry guests. This is the place to show us your party piece! Anything from Jerome Kern to Lin-Manuel Miranda is encouraged and welcomed.

Celebrity Masterclass - Your chance to learn from our Industry guests. You can submit any song you'd like to work on. It doesn't have to be finished - it just needs to be ready to work.

Please note places in this and all masterclasses are necessarily limited by time but there is plenty of room for those wishing to watch.

Music as Storytelling - a chance to work with one of Australia's top Musical Directors on shaping a song musically.

When I Grow Up - This is a special opportunity for any young person who would like to perform at this concert where we get to share the next generation of talent.

New Work Development You could be involved in the development of a brand new musical and engage in free sessions with some of the country's top practitioners as you shape the work .

Please note this has a considerable time commitment and would limit engagement in some workshop programs.

AUDITION SKETCH REQUIRED:

Costume and Character - For those interested in costuming design and making.

If you want to practically engage in the art of creating costumes, some prior preparation is necessarily required. 

Please be aware this class is open to all; you may be a director or a designer who just want to watch.

The submitted designs will be openly discussed and form the basis of the class in a supportive, nurturing environment.

What to Submit: 2x sketches; one for a traditional male role and one for a traditional female costume design. This should be for a period musical and all are asked to bring a sketch pad in case of any revision needed.

Instructions for Audition Video Upload and Creating a Link

 

Please name your video: Name_Session Auditioning for_AMTF_2021

 

Example: MaryPoppins_CelebrityMasterclass_AMTF_2021

  • To create a link for your video, you can use YouTube, Vimeo, or Dropbox. 

  • You can find directions for each of these below. 

  • Once you have your link, paste it into the submission form below, which will be available until April 25th.

If using YouTube:

  1. Sign in to YouTube.

  2. Select “Create a video and more” in the upper right corner, then click “Upload video.”  (If you do not already have an account, you will be prompted to create one when you select “Upload video.” Follow the prompts to do so, then proceed to the next steps below

  3. Click “select file” and locate the file you’d like to upload OR drag the file into the popup window.

  4. Follow the prompts. Go to the Privacy section of the page and mark your video as “UNLISTED” NOT Private.

  5. Copy the link created.

  6. Paste your link into the submission form below; which will be available until April 25th.

If using Vimeo:

  1. Sign in to Vimeo

  2. Click the blue ‘+ New video’ button which is located on the homepage of the site (top left and right hand sides) (If you do not already have an account, you will need to register one. Follow the prompts to do so, then proceed to the next steps below.

  3. Choose the ‘upload’ option and this will open the files on your computer/ phone 

  4. Select the desired file

  5. As soon as you click the button, the video will start to be uploaded straight away. 

  6. As soon as the video is uploaded, the video will then be converted automatically. You can close this page if you want, and Vimeo will handle the conversion automatically. Once the video has finished converting, the service will then email you once the conversion has finished.

  7. Copy the link created.

  8. Paste your link into the submission form below; which will be available until April 25th.

If using Dropbox:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.

  2. Click “Files” in the column on the left side of the page.

  3. On the right side of the page, select “Upload files.”

  4. Once your file has been uploaded, find it in your file list and hover over the file you’d like to share.

  5. Click “Share.”

  6. If a link hasn’t been created, click “Create a link” toward the bottom of the prompt window.

  7. The link will be automatically copied to your clipboard.

  8. Paste your link into the submission form below; which will be available until April 25th
